Programme
We look forward to welcoming you all to the International Women's* Theater Festival (IF*TF) in Frankfurt am Main! At the IF*TF 2024, which is taking place in Hesse for the 8th time in a row, we are asking ourselves the question of “safe spaces” for the sustainable work of women*.
The aim here is not to exclude people in order to create safety for themselves or to permanently install exclusive spaces to ensure the safety of others, but to create a basis for a common feminist culture of peace that includes diversity and respect for our differences and thrives on the participation of all.
We want to encourage our visitors to think about how they can act as co-creators of a space that is safe to. A space in which women* and girls* feel empowered to express themselves authentically in collective processes - a brave space.
The IF*FT is part of the Magdalena Project, a dynamic international network that exists across borders and generations. Here in Germany, we work intersectionally with the theme “SAFER SPACES - The Feminist Culture of Peace”.
Together with international artists from theater, performance, video, visual arts and music, we are looking for moments of intergenerational dialogue that are radical and utopian. That heal, inspire and create more trust and recognition for the work of women*. As victims of violence in society, women* and girls* have an important voice when it comes to enabling a culture of peace.
As independent artists, we are all about creativity, design and change. That's why the question of transformation and innovation is always part of our work. This year, we are focusing in particular on the dialog between black feminism and the performing arts in the context of peace culture.
IF*TF 2024 focuses on the positioning of women* in the world within the work of protagon e.V. in a cross-generational, feminist dialog between theater and politics. Since its foundation, the festival has worked on the visibility of feminism in the performing arts, offers a platform for this debate and aims to be a pioneer and a space for testing feminist practice in the future.
At IF*TF 2024, you are also cordially invited to ask questions, take part in performances yourself and develop future concepts for the theater stages!

Programm
Wir freuen uns, euch alle zum Internationalen Frauen* Theaterfestival (IF*TF) in Frankfurt am Main begrüßen zu können! Beim IF*TF 2024, das schon zum 8. Mal in Folge in Hessen stattfindet, stellen wir uns die Frage nach den „Safer Spaces “ für die nachhaltige Arbeit von Frauen*.
Das Ziel ist hierbei nicht, Menschen auszuschließen, um für sich selbst Sicherheit herzustellen oder dauerhaft exklusive Räume zu installieren, um die Sicherheit anderer zu gewährleisten, sondern eine Grundlage für eine gemeinsame feministische Friedenskultur zu schaffen, die Diversität und Respekt vor unseren Unterschiedlichkeiten einbezieht und von der Teilhabe aller lebt.
Wir möchten unsere Besucher*innen dazu ermutigen, darüber nachzudenken, wie sie als Mitgestalter*innen eines Raums handeln können, der safe to ist. Ein Raum also, in dem sich Frauen* und Mädchen* darin bestärkt fühlen, sich in kollektiven Prozessen authentisch zum Ausdruck zu bringen – ein brave space.
Das IF*FT ist Teil des Magdalena-Projekts, einem dynamischen internationalen Netzwerk, das über Grenzen und Generationen hinweg besteht. Hier in Deutschland arbeiten wir intersektional mit dem Thema „SAFER SPACES – The Feminist Culture of Peace“ (SICHERere RÄUME – feministische Friedenskultur).
Wir suchen gemeinsam mit internationalen Künstler*innen aus Theater, Performance, Video, Bildender Kunst und Musik nach Momenten des intergenerationalen Dialogs, die radikal und utopisch sind. Die heilen, inspirieren und mehr Vertrauen und Anerkennung für die Arbeit von Frauen* schaffen. Als Opfer von Gewalt in der Gesellschaft haben Frauen* und Mädchen* eine wichtige Stimme, wenn es darum geht, eine Kultur des Friedens zu ermöglichen.
Als freie Künstler*innen dreht sich bei uns alles um Kreativität, Gestaltbarkeit und Veränderung. Deswegen läuft die Frage nach Transformation und Innovation in unserer Arbeit immer mit. In diesem Jahr widmen wir uns insbesondere dem Dialog zwischen dem schwarzen Feminismus und der Darstellenden Kunst im Zusammenhang mit dem Thema Friedenskultur.
Das IF*TF 2024 setzt dabei in einem generationsübergreifenden, feministischen Dialog zwischen Theater und Politik einen Schwerpunkt auf die Positionierung von Frauen* in der Welt innerhalb der Arbeit von protagon e.V. . Das Festival arbeitet seit der Gründung an der Sichtbarkeit von Feminismus in der Darstellenden Kunst, bietet eine Plattform für diese Auseinandersetzung und will in der Zukunft eine Wegbereiter*in und ein Raum zur Erprobung feministischer Praxis sein.
Auch auf dem IF*TF 2024 seid ihr herzlich eingeladen, Fragen zu stellen, selbst an Performances teilzunehmen und Zukunftsentwürfe für die Theaterbühnen zu entwickeln!
