Documentation:

"The sayings of women. The creation of new linguistic spaces. Confronting difference and going beyond Babel. The urgent necessity to speak when faced with the uniformity of economic language and words devoid of meaning. Flirting with the unspeakable, defining our limits through a physical language. The multiplicity of language is the foundation of the human being but also the common denominator in all artistic endeavours."

Marion Coutarel
Artistic Director of
Magdalena Montpellier and Artistic Associate of La Bulle Bleue.

From 21st - 26th September 2015 female artists from The Magdalena Project, the international network of women in theatre,  will arrive to meet with professional artists from Languedoc-Roussillon and elsewhere, as well as members of the public.

Magdalena Montpellier France 2015 will open a window on the world in all its singularity and diversity, through a dynamic interaction and connection. La Bulle Bleue (an arts organisation at the heart of which is a company of professional actors with disabilities), will provide the setting for hosting this festival, a setting where equality is born of difference.

  • four evenings in different theatres and venues in the town

  • a dozen performances to overthrow rules and regulations, celebrate stage presence and foreground productions brought by female artists from all over the world.

  • mornings of professional training led by both Magdalena artists and artists from the region, to stimulate practical exchange.
  • afternoons of research into politics, society and poetry under the banner "Comment dire?", allowing each participant to plunge into the heart of the artistic process and find her way there.

In addition, there will be: debates; discussions on the theme of Women's Journeys manifested in the strong artistic initiatives undertaken in hospitals, prisons, and specific contexts like La Bulle Bleue; time for reflection on the means of production and other ways of practising our vocation through networking; and a final day dedicated to the presentation of work in progress, performances and risk taking, concluding with a festive banquet.
