Behind the scenes tour of the cybersex industry.

“Violence against women is a truly global crisis that feeds on other crises. " United Nations.

As artists, Maud Madlyn (France) and Andrés Montes Zuluaga (Colombia) wonder what this violence reveals about society. Statistically, in France, 96% of the perpetrators of sexual violence are men (source: national observatory of violence against women). In light of this, are there any men willing to talk openly about their misogynistic desires?
This is difficult information to obtain, but Andrés Montes Zuluaga finds a lead: their friends who do webcam sex work, commonly known as “camgirls”. Men seek them out specifically to tell them about these fantasies.

However, the girls cannot provide access to their conversations.

That’s how Maud Madlyn takes on her biggest artistic and personal challenge to date and starts working as a "camgirl" in 2019, thus accessing an industry that is usually well guarded.

The result is a kaleidoscopic piece reflecting a deeply misogynistic society still full of taboos. At the crossroads between documentary theatre, gonzo journalism, performance and video art, welcome to a behind the scenes overview of the cybersex industry, experienced from Colombia, the second world power in this business.

Presented in Spanish in Colombia and in English in London and Greece, Camgirl Chronicles will debut in French and in France at the Festival Off d'Avignon this summer !
