I'm a New York based actress who has created more than 30 solo dramas and performed at international theater festivals throughout Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. I began my career as one of the first members of the Bread and Puppet Theater. My current shows address the lives of civilians and soldiers who are caught up in wars and conflicts around the world. The first of these, "Reluctant Angel," was about the life and death of a little girl living under the Siege of Sarajevo. I performed this show at the first Sarajevo Winter Festival after the war ended. "What Do I Know About War?" is based on first-hand accounts of American troops, women and men, who have served in Iraq and interviews with their families. I've toured the USA and performed at the 20th Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater, at the 6th Maria International Festival of Women's Monodramas in Kiev, at the 21st Women on Stage for Peace Festival in Bogota, and in January 2014, at the 4th Magdalena Sin Fronteras in Santa Clara and in Havana, Cuba. My newest solo drama is " Teach." It's based on three stories by the great Palestinian writer, Ghassan Kanafani.
I teach a workshop, "The Other Side of the Mask," which is based on my experiences performing with the Bread and Puppet Theater. The workshop enables students to discover new characters, informed by the mystery on the other side of the mask. I've taught throughout the USA, at the First International Women in Action Conference in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, and at the 4th Magdalena Sin Fronteras in Santa Clara, Cuba.
