Arlene Hood has been teaching Theatre Arts at Moreau Catholic High School since 1987 and served as chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department from 2001 - 2006. During her tenure as department chair, the Visual and Performing Arts Department twice received an award for outstanding excellence from the California Alliance for Arts Education. Her theatre students have received numerous awards and recognition for their exceptional achievements in Theatre Arts. In 2005, she and her students were national winners for the American High School Theatre Festival and traveled to Scotland to perform Mother Courage and her Children at the annual Festival Fringe in Edinburgh. She has also traveled and performed with students and alumni students in Funabashi, Japan and in Nicosia, Cyprus.
Ms. Hood received her Theatre Arts Degree and secondary teaching credential from California State University, East Bay. She is also a freelance director. She directs for Golden Thread Productions (GTP) in San Francisco and also serves on its play selection committee. In 2004, her production of Karima's City for GTP was invited to perform in Egypt at the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre. Arlene is currently the president of the state board of the California Educational Theatre Association.
