DarahRouge is a collective of artists with different backgrounds ranging in theatre, performance art, photography, philosophy, visual art, playwrighting, marching band, traditional theatre and documentary making amongst others all linked by a love of theatre and performance and the desire to use this arsenal of artforms to create new theatre. The group started in 2011 after meeting on the 2010 production of Marat/Sade . We create work via a process of research and discussion with the aim of being stimulated both intellectually and emotionally in the work we engage in. We are dedicated to developing new and relevant works for the Indonesian stage as well as producing new or previously unpublished plays. DarahRouge is also dedicated to gender equality and democracy within the creative process The founding members of DarahRouge are Sugiyanti Ariani, Kerensa Johnston Dewantoro, Irfan Hendrian, Moh Syafari Firdau and S.E. Dewantoro. All of these artists are also extremely active and respected in their own artforms. We are always seeking out new and unusual spaces for performance, making links into communities and also open to collaborations with other artists and companies. In the past we have worked with a range of professional and non-professional performers and artists.
