Women in Pregnancy

Exploring the impact of pregnancy on womens creativity
23 March 2012 to 25 April 2012
Venue:
Chapter Cardiff Wales
Country:
A programme of creative movement workshops.

Aleksandra Jones (Serbia/Wales), Maria-Pilar Morancho (Spain/Wales) and Frances Medley (Malawi/Wales) met at the 25th anniversary Legacy and Challenge Festival in Cardiff. We are collaborating on a pilot project looking at the impact of pregnancy on womens creativity using the Authentic Body methodology devised by Choreographer Aleksandra (who is herself pregnant). Working with professional dancers and pregnant women we are developing the methodology through a series of creative movement workshops. Theatre Director and Film Maker Maria-Pilar is documenting the process through film and Leah Crossley is our photographer.

The process is being documented on the wordpress blog site and this is where we would like you to collaborate with us. Share your experiences, your thoughts and ideas with us! The project aims to portray pregnancy on stage in a more positive light. In the next phase of the project we will work with groups of pregnant women across Wales to create a full scale multimedia performance.
