PROJECT ZOYA, OR HOW I BECAME THE OTHER

Essay about the Swedish-Belarusian project Mama Zoya, Belarus where I was a partner from Belarusian side.
I decided to write the text because the project finished for me sadly. I was suspended from the production about my own mother, deprived of my private story and half of the fee. In addition, the Swedish partner has deprived me of basic security: I am in Belarus under the threat of persecution. I published the text about this situation.

Text is about how we feel as Others in “white” Europe, and about the gap that exists between the proclaimed European values and what is (sometimes) happening in practice. This is my attempt to analyse the situation from a postcolonial prism. A critique of inequality, of the idea of productivity and working conditions in the capitalist system served as another starting point for my reflection.
