We would like to kindly remind you that PQ 2019 open call´s deadline is October 31st, 2017. The fourteenth edition of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, with the main areas of interests: Imagination, Transformation and Memory, will include three competitive exhibitions: the Exhibition of Countries and Regions, the Performance Space Architecture Exhibition – Our Theatre of the World, and the Student Exhibition.
Exhibition of Countries and regions has been the heart of Prague Quadrennial ever since. The aim of the next edition is to encourage curators and their teams to look at the exhibition design not as a separate entity, but rather as a site- specific collaborative scenographic task.
The PQ 2019 cycle Imagination, which is focused mainly on students and fresh graduates of scenography, includes the competitive Student Exhibition. Its goal is to present projects where the leading force is intuition and instinct unlimited and unaffected by routine.
Performance Space Architecture Exhibition will present short videos of even international creative teams and their projects realized in past 6 years. Submissions need to show the empty space as well as its transformation for performance. Furthermore, all submitted videos must include a dialogue of the architect with the designer and performers. More information will be published in the separate call on November 30th, 2017.
PQ 2019 would like to encourage a dialogue, collaboration and an environment that is purely scenographic, where every element has a meaning, where every shape and object was carefully chosen with a purpose.
The Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (PQ) is the largest scenographic event in the world that explores a wide range of scenographic practices - from stage design and costume design to lighting design, sound design and new scenographic practices such as site-specific, urban performance, costume as performance, and much more.
