make-shift

a networked performance about connectivity & consequences
5 May 2012
Venue:
online; Arnolfini, UK
Country:
4.30pm UK / 5.30pm Central European Time
Houses in Vienna, Austria and Bristol, UK will be connected for the make-shift event on Saturday 5 May.

make-shift is a unique and intimate networked performance that speaks about the fragile connectivity of human and ecological relationships. The performance takes place simultaneously in two separate houses that are connected through a specially designed online interface. Paula and Helen (one in each house) stage their part of the work with the help of local audience members. Scripted and visually poetic performance is interspersed with webcam videography, avatar puppetry and audience interaction in the format of a performative salon. Everything that happens in the houses is streamed to online audiences who can also contribute text chat visible on the interface to everyone throughout the event.

On Saturday 5 May, participants in houses in Vienna and Bristol will collaborate over the internet to create a performance that anyone with internet access can join online, from anywhere in the world. Visit www.make-shift.net and click on "find your local time here" to convert the time to your local time. There will be a live link to the interface about an hour before the show starts.

There will be a simultaneous live screening as part of PW12 at the Arnolfini, Bristol, UK.
