We will touch upon all the aspects of theatre reportage:
An anthropological physical and vocal training, long intense improvisations to empathize and create a deep and different understanding of ‘others’, telling moments of life in Gaza, Iraq, Egypt and so on as if they were your own story…
We will see films, listen to music, sing in Arabic and/or Kurdish, and there will be moments of journalistic research….
These seminars will also be an opening up into “The Dream Lottery” - the latest theatre reportage performance of the international group of Teatro di Nascosto.
This performance premiered in Alexandria, Egypt and tells the stories of today, of the ones escaping war in dangerous boat travels, life in Gaza, Baghdad, Nassariya, Basra, Egypt, and Kurdistan. After several tours in Italy, Spain, Germany, and France last year, this performance and other actions will go to the European Parliament at the end of April 2015. Most of the actors are professionals who live in Palestine, Egypt, Kurdistan, Iraq, England, Italy, Holland, Germany, France, Denmark…
I returned mid-January from Iraq, after a stay of nearly a month. In this moment I hear many people disheartened about the never-ending wars. In Europe, those that have a sense of helplessness, and in the Middle East, those living everyday the consequences of war. There I see many who live as if there is no future for their country, their life….
In response, the international group searches for a practical road: to give information by telling through theatre reportage, true stories, songs, dance to create understanding, in a square, a house, a theatre, in the schools, and also in the government buildings where they make laws, like the European Parliament.
We will bring the stories behind the dreams of whose who live violence and destruction like in Iraq, the war at the front, the continuous threat of ISIS, the moments of joy and pain, a Palestinian woman who lived in an Israeli prison, life in Iraqi and Turkish Kurdistan, the after war drama in Gaza where the people live imprisoned in a destroyed country, the life of whose without documents and future, the refugees in Syria… True stories and dreams, the desire for a normal life… Life and death so near, like crying and laughing, pain and joy…

Scheduled program for the European Parliament in Brussels
-“They come from the sea” (The day before entering in the parliament) The actors will jump from a boat in the North Sea and swim to the beach where they will tell the stories of those who face the journey from Africa to Europe across the Mediterranean
- “Dreams from beyond” in the corridors of the European Parliament in Brussels in memory of the dead, simple letters with a red flower above it, with the dreams of those who never arrived, their hopes and dreams dispersed in the sea, hopes and dreams that will never come true...
- “The Dream Lottey” the actors will tell the true life stories from the countries in conflict in the Middle East
Due giorni di teatro-reportage, un viaggio verso storie di vita molto diverse dalle nostre. Di chi non ha scelto dove nascere, vivendo giornalmente l’occupazione, l’oppressione, guerra e una cultura lontana da noi.

Si affronteranno tutti gli aspetti del teatro-reportage:
- Training fisico antropologico, vocale, improvvisazioni intense e lunghe per immedesimarsi per creare una diversa comprensione, per raccontare momenti di vita vera a Gaza, in Iraq, Egitto come se fosse la propria storia. Si vedranno filmati, si ascolterà musica, si canterà in lingua araba e/o curda... e ci saranno momenti di ricerca giornalistica.
Questo seminario è anche l’apertura per il progetto di teatro-reportage chiamato “La Lotteria del Sogno” con il gruppo internazionale del Teatro di Nascosto. Uno spettacolo che ha avuto la prima in Alessandria (Egitto), e che racconta la vita di oggi di chi scappa dalla guerra con viaggi pericolosi, con barche insicure; la vita a Gaza, a Baghdad, a Nassiriya, Bassora, la vita in Egitto, in Kurdistan. Dopo diverse tournée in Italia, Spagna, Francia, Germania saremo alla fine di aprile al Parlamento Europeo (Bruxelles) con questo spettacolo di teatro-reportage e altre azioni. Gli attori sono per la maggioranza professionisti che vivono a Gaza, Westbank, Egitto, Kurdistan, Iraq, Inghilterra, Italia, Olanda.
Il gruppo internazionale cerca una strada pratica: dare informazione raccontando con il teatro-reportage, storie vere, canti, danza per creare una diversa comprensione della realtà; in una piazza, in un teatro, nelle scuole e anche dove si governa, dove si fanno le leggi, come nel Parlamento Europeo. Porteranno i sogni e le storie dietro i sogni di chi vive la violenza e la distruzione come in questo momento in Iraq, della guerra al fronte, la minaccia continua dell’ISIS, di una donna palestinese che ha vissuto in un carcere israeliano, della vita nel Kurdistan iracheno e turco, dell dramma del dopo guerra a Gaza dove la gente è imprigionata in un paese distrutto, della vita di chi è senza documenti e futuro, dei rifugiati siriani, la situazione attuale in Egitto sotto l’ex generale, adesso presidente Sisi, di una guerra che non finisce mai in Siria…
“Sono tornata dall’Iraq a metà gennaio dopo una permanenza di quasi un mese. In questo momento sento tante persone sfiduciate verso le guerre che non finiscono. Qua in Italia, in Europa, con un senso di impotenza e lì in Medioriente, vedo tanti che vivono come se non ci fosse più un futuro per il loro paese e per la loro vita ... Storie vere e di sogni, il desiderio per una vita normale… La vita e la morte sempre vicine, così come il pianto e il ridere, il dolore e la gioia….”

La sera prima dell’entrata in Parlamento:
- “Vengono dal mare” gli attori salteranno da una barca nel Mare del Nord e raggiungeranno a nuoto la spiaggia dove racconteranno le storie di chi affronta il viaggio dalla Libia attraverso il Mediterraneo per raggiungere lʼEuropa.
- “Sogni dallʼal di là” nei corridoi del Parlamento Europeo a Bruxelles in ricordo dei morti
del Mediterraneo, semplici fogli con un fiore rosso con scritto sopra i sogni di chi è partito e mai arrivato... sogni dispersi... speranze mai avverate...
- “La Lotteria del Sogno” inserito in un “hearing” nel Parlamento Europeo dove gli attori
raccontano le storie vere di vita in terre di conflitto.
