Deborah Hunt will help participants build masks and puppets of different sizes and then lead sessions to give life to these particular objects and build dialogues and scenes with them. Alberto Martinez Guinaldo of The Jasonites will lead the participants in physical training, composition and elements of actor's dramaturgy, constructing scenes on the base of the participants' own material. Julia Varley and other Odin Teatret actors will lead particular sessions of work with the participants.

Deborah Hunt and Alberto Martinez Guinaldo will collaborate for the creation of performative sequences which will become part of 8 different 'labyrinth' performances at Odin Teatret within the framework of the regional Bølgen Festival and which will also be presented in schools as barters in the last week of the workshop.

The theme is "ATLANTIS: THE CITY UNDER THE WAVES - PAST OR FUTURE?" In the same period The Jasonites will be working with local schools that will also perform in the labyrinth performances. Francesca Palombo will accompany the performances as musician. The performances will be directed in collaboration between Deborah Hunt and The Jasonites.

Performing for spectators demands a rigour which is pedagogically very useful in fully understanding a creative process. Also the preparation and interaction with the community is an experience which completes the training of a performer as an intercultural navigator. Each participant will be responsible for the preparation and planning of an event.

During the month of work, there will be performances and work demonstrations with The Jasonites, Deborah Hunt, Julia Varley and other actors of Odin Teatret and the possibility to have a meeting with Eugenio Barba.

Language: The workshop will be conducted in English. Deborah Hunt can communicate with the participants in Spanish and Alberto Martinez Guinaldo in Italian, Spanish and French.

ALBERTO MARTINEZ GUINALDO, born in Spain in 1971, he has attended the Conservatoire d'Art dramatique in Liège (Belgium) where he got an acting degree in 1999 and studied with renowned Russian acting teachers from GITIS: Vladimir Ananiev, Irina Promptova, Tatiana Agaeva and Oleg Kudriachov. His interest in multicultural and theatre research brought him to work in many different countries: France, England, Singapore, Italy, Canada and Spain, performing or running workshops, for both adults and young audiences. He performed in The seagull by Eimuntas Nekrosius in 2000, and has been working in recent years with theatre directors such as Mathias Simons, Nathalie Mauger and Jean-François Noville. In 2006 he received a Best Actor Award at the Huy Theatre Festival. He has performed in two plays directed by Eugenio Barba: The marriage of Medea in 2008, and Ur-Hamlet in 2009. In 2008 he joined the Jasonites, performing and developing a social theater programme in Torino (Italy), Holstebro (Denmark) and Freiburg (Germany). Alberto will be touring Europe with The Jasonites as part of the EU funded Caravan on the Road project.

THE JASONITES is an international theatre group with Giuseppe L. Bonifati and Isadora Pei from Italy, Marcelo Miguel from Brazil/Germany, and Alberto Martinez Guinaldo from Spain/Belgium. In 2008 a group of performers from 23 different countries met at Odin Teatret to take part in the performance The Marriage of Medea directed by Eugenio Barba. The performance was the celebration of the wedding between Jason and the foreign Medea, separated by geographical and cultural differences. Jason's family was interpreted by a multi-ethnical group of artists, some of whom continued the training experience started in Denmark taking the message of celebration and feast to other cities, with actions of exchange and barter, with the aim of sharing theatre as intellectual stimulus and cultural promotion. The Jasonites have realised intercultural theatre projects in Turin (Italy), San José (Costa Rica), Freiburg (Germany); participated in Odin Teatret's project Teater som interferens conducting workshops and performances in schools, day-care centres and hospitals, and in the performance Ur-Hamlet directed by Eugenio Barba; and produced Passeportout (directed by Giuseppe L. Bonifati) and Shakespills (directed by Julia Varley with Eugenio Barba's supervision). Since 2011 The Jasonites are artists in residence at Odin Teatret for about six months a year.
