support the project "Bread and Onions Theatre" 
conceived by the Collettivo di Ricerca Teatrale of Vittorio Veneto (TV - Italy).

Teatro Pane e Cipolle
"Bread and Onions" was, in dry spells, the "fee" for acrobats,
street actors and small tour companies. Today, due to restrictions
required to contain the pandemic by Covid-19, many artists are in serious trouble.
With the project "Bread and Onions Theatre", we want to make our contribution,
even small, to get through these hard times:
we "donate" performances, poetry readings, concerts.
The meetings will be held in open spaces, gardens, courtyards, parks and lawns,
where it is easier to comply with security regulations.
The funds raised on these occasions will go to support artists in difficulty.

"The Comedy by Boat" recalls the ancient barge of Burchiello that went from port to port on the Brenta Canal from Venice to Padua, as in the famous collection of madrigals by Adriano Banchieri in 1605, but also expands to explore new river ports: from Portogruaro to Pordenone, to begin with, and then going up the ancient waterways that from the Serenissima branch off like veins in the hinterland, from the Triveneto to the distant inflows of the Po, in the Bergamo area and in Lombard or Savoy land. Who knows? Maybe one day, by sea or by land, the boat of the comedians will be able to land in all the other regions of Italy and the world? This project of travel on the waters that merge with the land, suggests to the company of Barcaioli errant comedians to equip their poor raft (a wooden box containing all their tools of the trade) even with wheels and towing ropes. In place of the bullocks that pulled against the flow of the ancient Burchiello on the Brenta, now we have the Jester Chief who pulls in person, like a patient mule, the raft of the company, to the rhythm of the songs of the Courtesan Rizzolina, followed by the Pantalone Lover who carries nets and household goods. At every port and at every stop the Comedy by Boat stops, offers its own entertaining repertoire of comic human cases, visits a small big world of men and women, servants and masters, soldiers and captains, young and old, love and betrayal, in a mixture of collaboration and competition, pride and self-irony, but always in the sign of a timeless friendship that makes all laughing brothers.
