Sophie Kasser

Performer, director and teacher, I am a multidisciplinary artist interested in the expressivity of the human body, working through investigation and collaborative devising processes. Born in Switzerland, active professionally in London and now in Barcelona, she likes trusting the intuitive body, creating and proposing works which provoke a different and rich experience for the public. 

After being a member of the company Theatre de l’Ange Fou in London for several years, Sophie co-founded Cia Moveo and Moveo centre in Barcelona, Spain, with which she is performing, directing and producing. Since 2005, she has toured with numerous award winning shows and projects to countries such as Belgium, Chile, Croatia, Spain, France, Holland, qHungary, Israel, Italy, Korea, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Switzerland and United Kingdom. 

In recent years she has specialized in guiding artists in residencies and in training programs, leading to the creation of works and collectives such as Las Zebras, a group of international female artists founded in 2020 which she guided to create the video and performance 8 Horizontes exhibited at the Mostra FemArt'20 and exhibition "Els nostres cossos" in Barcelona 2021.

Her experience as well as her interest in disciplines such as theatre, dance and circus has led her to lead projects for the Superior Dramatic Art School of Barcelona, the University of Barcelona, University of Applied Sciences of Finland, FEIM International Festival of Mime and Physical Theatre of Chile, School of Speech and Drama of London, Conservatoire Populaire of Geneva, amongst others.

Sophie is a regular teacher at Superior School of Dramatic Arts, Dance Professional Conservatory and Circus School Rogelio Rivel, all in Barcelona. She trained in theatre, mime, circus and dance in Geneva, Paris and London.
