Alison Mann

Alison Mann is a playwright and performance maker based in lutruwita / Tasmania. She is the recipient of several awards including a First Draft Award from PLAYWORKS, Sydney and a Melbourne Dramatists Emerging Playwright Award. In 2017 Alison received the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board Scholarship, undertaking mentorships with ground breaking performance maker Maude Davey and internationally renowned playwright Tom Holloway. Alison is part of Blue Cow Theatre’s script development program, the Cowshed, working with dramaturg Peter Matheson. In 2016 her play The Surgeon’s Hands was produced by Blue Cow Theatre (Hobart) and La Mama (Melbourne).
Alison’s The Illustrated Girl, was part of Radio Gothic, a hybrid radio play performance, at the DARK MOFO Festival (2017). She is currently Blue Cow Theatre’s playwright in residence and a mentor for their young writers’ program Future Proof. Her play The Surgeon’s Hands was recently selected to feature in the Women’s Playwrights International Conference in Montreal, Canada (2022) and she received a commission from Critical Stages Touring (Sydney) and Paines Plough (UK) as part of their ‘Come to Where I Am – Australia’ digital theatre project (2020), which is available via Critical Stages Touring Screening Room and Paines Plough’s online platform. Alison is published by Playlab and Australian Plays Transform. Alison studied writing for performance at the Royal Court Theatre and Soho Theatre in London.
