About Me:
Yes, that phrasing works well. Here's the revised sentence integrated into the text:

Originally from Réunion Island, Marie-Muriel brought the Maloya art form to Australia in 2009. Since then, her artistic journey has been closely linked to this unique Creole performance style, acknowledged as UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage. Rooted in slavery, Maloya blends influences from Africa, India, China, and Europe, embodying a multicultural expression through dance and music. It has provided fertile ground for her creative pursuits, navigating identities, differences, sustainable global well-being, and self-care, while extending an invitation to both the audience and fellow artists. Her artistic explorations now delve into upheaval, resistance, and care.
With 15 years of experience in the Australian performing arts sector, teaching Maloya dance and curating performances across various platforms locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, she has made a significant impact. In 2015, recognising the lack of global Maloyan academic studies, she pursued a thesis at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), culminating in the first-ever doctorate on Maloya in 2022. Towards the end of her doctorate, she formed the Salama band with artists from Réunion, Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, South Africa, West Africa, New Caledonia, Sri Lanka, France, and Australia, united by a passion for Maloya.
With the group, she devised and produced the first Creole show in Australia in 2022, honouring the history and culture of many communities often in the shadow. In 2023, she embarked on a songwriting and music composing journey to convey their collective reflections and statements to their audiences. Since then, she has explored a retrospective approach to Maloya as “food for the heart” while developing innovative and daring body work.
