We live in completely different countries and societies, but does this mean that we have less or more freedom? Is freedom for myself different from freedom for all of us?
From 22 – 30 September ZID Theater organises the international cross-over Festival ExploreZ for the third time, in Amsterdam. Makers, city residents and international guests together create a programme of theatre, dance, music and video at locations all over town. ‘The New Freedom’ is the leading theme of the festival, with special emphasis on the cross-over between art disciplines and their impact on society. Four productions will be especially created for this festival, in a collaboration between local residents and the guests from abroad: Teatr Brama (Poland), Pod Teatar (Serbia), Omma Studio Theatre (Greece) and Dar Amsterdam (Morocco).
The events take place in theatres such as ZID Theater, Theater de Meervaart, and Podium Mozaiek, but also at outdoor locations such as the Rembrandt Park, in the Stadsdeel West and Nieuw-West neighbourhoods, and at locations such as debate centre Pakhuis de Zwijger and in branches of the Public Library Amsterdam.
