ART OF DEVISING Theatre Seminars By Sanja Krsmanović Tasić in Horto (Chorto, Χορτο), Pilion, Greece

In the beautiful seaside village of Horto situated on the natural resort of the peninsula of Pelion, two one week seminars on devising in theatre and dance will led by Sanja Krsmanovic Tasic.

The results of the workshops will be presented as part of the Horto Festival  in the form of a dance -theatre performance.

POETRY OF MOVEMENT

 16-23.June 2025, for ages 50+

„Poetry of movement“ is a six day Seminar for all persons interested in exploring the beauty of movement and learning to maintain  physical presence and body that is expressive and vital in mature age. It is based on different exercises and skills of dance, contemporary theatre improvisation, developing imagination, bodly expression and playfulness.

After exercises of warming up and streching, different artistic explorations of movement and poetry, indivudual and group sequesnces will be developed, that will be presented at the end of the Seminar, as part of the prelude to Horto Festival.

GENETIC MEMORY-Theatre seminar

3-10.July 2025.

Starting with different exercises that warm up the body and develop the physical vocabulary of each individual, the workshop will focus on developing different materials from which a devised performance art piece can be created. The participants will together pass the process of creating physical scores based on personal inner stories, that will be later edited into scenes.

Based on techniques of Eastern European laboratory theatre, and the 20 th Century masters of contemporary theatre and dance (Grotowski, Barba, Biomechanics, physical theatre,Yoshi Oida, Carolyn Carson), different martial art techniques, and also unique theatre/dance techniques developed by Sanja Krsmanovic Tasic after 30 years of dedicated work in the realm of performing art and dance.

The workshop will focus on the “genetic memory”, the imprints in us made by the lives of our ancestors. Even though each generation is marked by time it lives in, our bodies remember the patterns, movements and actions of the generations that came before us. We will work on a way of artistically expressing this heritage, in the same time developing self-awareness and defining our role and place as artists in this world and in the 21 st century. We will explore our personal histories as well, the inner landscapes, thus clearing the air for fresh, exciting and new things to come, transforming us on the way.

SANJA KRSMANOVIĆ TASIĆ 

Theatre director, actress, choreographer, drama/theatre and dance education expert, with extensive experience in creating, producing and curating programs in performance art and art education. Recognized for creating work that intersects activism and art, addressing critical political and social issues. A strong advocate for using art and art education as a tool for transformation and healing.

President of the International Drama/Theatre and Education Association-IDEA, chair of the Executive Forum of the World Alliance for Arts Education. Since 2014. President of Centre for Drama in Education and Art-CEDEUM. For 21 years core memberr of DAH Theatre, now artistic director director and founder of Hleb Teatar, independent theatre group from Belgrade, Serbia, and Association Artistic Utopia for the development of projects in performing art. Author of an innovate methodology of art and art education as „ecology of the soul“. Author of a theatre form called „essay in movement“. As an internationally acclaimed expert, she conducts workshops and master classes blending her experience from dance and laboratory theatre into an original approach and  methodology of devising applicable for work with children, youth, seniors, as well as professionals. Founder and artistic director of Belgrade dance festival „Days of Smiljana Mandukić“, and Children and youth theatre festival MATER TERRA.
