Janaina Matter

Actress, teacher, feminist and LGBTQ+ activist and artistic diretor of Subita Companhia de Teatro since 2007 in Curitiba, Brazil. Apart from acting she has a degree on psychology, which she graduated in 2002. In theater, Is dedicated to the study of physicality and gesture dramaturgy, having a strong background in the Suzuki for Actors training. Has been guided by Tadashi Suzuki in Toga, Japan and by the international coaches Ellen Lauren, Kameron Steel, Mattia Sebastian and Marcos Martinez. Ministers workshops and teaches professional and non-professional theater makers, developing research on directing and acting within the project Plataforma – a permanent research core of Subita Companhia, that embraces young actresses and actors interested in scenic research and training. She has been in all the productions of Subita Companhia as an actress and is baggining to make her own work with demonstrations and solo performances. She is also interested in acting for films and has been in short-film productions and tv series. In Curitiba, is an artistic and cultural articulator and is the co-founder and idealizer of Alfaiataria, along with the visual artist Luana Navarro, a physical and symbolic space of resistance, dialogs and artistic investigations and exchange opened in 2019.
