Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
When mothers beat their children, hurt them physically and emotionally, it leaves scars that often remain hidden - sometimes for a lifetime. Out of shame and denial, this topic is often not addressed and spoken about. It is a taboo in our society. Psychologists and criminologists assume that the number of unreported cases is high, although the consensus on non-violent education seems to have prevailed in recent decades.
But where does violence begin? And what role does maternal violence play?
Shifting between contemporary dance and puppetry, SCHATTENKIND wants to find a body and image language that expresses what is unutterable to say.
