Beyond the Binaries

call for entries

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act, Winter Pride UK in partnership with Emerald Life and The House of St Barnabas, is proud to launch its latest art competition:

Emerald Winter Pride Art Awards

Beyond the Binaries
Creative Brief

Open to all artists regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, Beyond the Binaries encourages artists to think of art as a tool for activism and the promotion of social equality. Beyond the Binaries invites art that looks past the black and white; that explores the spaces, the identities, the world that exists beyond and in-between these poles. The world and its inhabitants exist as a vast spectrum and Beyond the Binaries looks to celebrate this palette. Artists are invited to create work that stimulates dialogue about the representation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and straight identities.

Entries from the following artistic disciplines are invited to apply to the Emerald Winter Pride Art Awards:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Sculpture
  • Installation
  • Photography
  • Print
  • Video Art
  • Performance Art
