Cristina D. Silveira is the founder and artistic director of Karlik Danza Teatro, a Spanish company based in Cáceres since 1991. With a background in law, dramatic arts, and dance—including training at the Royal Academy of Dancing and in Seville—Silveira has built a unique creative language that blends movement, voice, gesture, and emotion into a unified theatrical form. Over the past three decades, she has created and directed more than thirty original productions that have toured extensively, with over 2,000 performances across thirty-two countries, earning numerous national and international awards. Her artistic work often explores philosophical and poetic themes, giving special attention to female voices, as seen in recent productions like La Tumba de Antígona, Autorretratos de Pluma y Espada, and María Zambrano. La Palabra Danzante. In addition to her work with Karlik, she has played a leading role in developing the performing arts in Extremadura, founding the resource center "La Nave del Duende" and the research laboratory "La Puerta Abierta," both dedicated to artistic training, innovation, and collaboration. Silveira’s creative vision is rooted in a commitment to emotional depth, expressive precision, and the transformative power of the stage.
