Commedia dell'Arte at the Gates of Naples
with Masters Claudia Contin Arlecchino and Luca Fantinutti
A Commedia dell'Arte workshop dedicated to those masks from Central and Southern Italy that have transformed their comic survival tricks into heroic solutions of resilience for the collective imagination throughout Europe and the Mediterranean area.
From the ancient underground karstic system of popular culture, which continually resurfaces to meet with the most refined contemporary cultural tensions, masks reappear, apparently forgotten, but alive in the common feeling.
Guided by an untamable Harlequin Carbonaro and by the ubiquity of an omnipresent Pulcinella Monaciello the Calabrian Giangurgolo Brigante the kindly and quarrelsome Romans Meo Patacca and Rugantino the comically mythological Capitani Siculi and the untamable Neapolitan Courtesan Sirens will reappear in Naples.
