Bond St. Theatre in Afghanistan

Next Steps in AfghanistanAfghanistan Performance for the Afghan National Polica

In December, we completed our 2-year Theatre for Social Development project. Our theatre partners reached over 8,000 people with original performances on corruption, women's rights, rule of law, and conflict resolution. We also created and trained four new women's theatre troupes.

"The most important thing about the work is unity and respecting each other.  Art is not such a thing where everybody can do it as individuals.  It is group work." -- Raouf, White Star Theatre, Kabul

Bond Street Theatre returns this year for two new projects. The Fraud Mitigation: Educating the Electorate project brings performances about the importance of secure and fair elections and voting rights throughout the country in preparation for the April 5, 2014 presidential election.

In addition, we are developing a program, Rehabilitating Incarcerated Women and Juveniles through Theatre, for the women's prisons and juvenile correction centers in Afghanistan.

Bond Street Theatre thanks the United States Institute of Peace and the US Embassy in Kabul for their support of our work in Afghanistan.
