Two Sandras, One Night:#2
Two Sandras, Sandra Bell and Sandra Sarala, poets, musicians and New Zealanders, who met as two Berliners, reunite for a second time for a single evening of performance.
On Friday 26 August, they're celebrating New Zealand/Aotearoa's National Poetry Day with an intimate evening of poetry, music and friendship.
Koha (reciprocal donation for entry) warmly welcomed.
As ever, St George’s will be offering legendarily affordable wine, beer and Schorle - each drink only €1,50 - for that wee spark of extra conviviality.
Sandra Bell is an indie poet and musician from New Zealand with releases in the USA, Belgium, France, Italy and New Zealand/Aotearoa. She was part of legendary underground label Xpressway in the 90's. Two of her albums were written and recorded while living in Berlin - City of Sorrows in 1996 and White Nights in 2008. Currently residing in Auckland, her poems have been published in New Zealand journals including Landfall, and she regularly performs live.

Sandra Sarala is a singing poet and maker of books. Originally from New Zealand, she's lived in Berlin since 2002. She was a co-founding member of ensemble Polynushka, whose self-titled CD won the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik for folklore in September 2008. During 2011-12 she curated and MCed the multi-disciplinary performance series Berlin Compass. Her poetic work has won awards in Berlin, New Zealand, Australia and online, and been published in journals including Side Stream and Percutio. Her collection Looking for Lago di Lecco was published in 2015 and a new series of single poem books is at hand. She creates performance food for the soul, a mix of sung and spoken words seasoned with archaic east European village folksong.
