D7 upgrade notes

regarding notifications: i'm not sure how many people really use this, or how well. but there must be a new system in drupal 7, yes? to have notification of new posts? i will try to find some time to investigate.

i agree that we can remove the chat for the time being; we haven't used it much, altho it was useful when we did the streaming of the festival at the very beginning of this site.

taxonomy & tagadelic - i think we have never got this fully working anyway? & presumably there is some other tagging system in D7? same for user stats

yes i think the notifications are problematic. firstly they are not in so nice a format - even i find the emails i receive not so nice to look at or read, & i haven't been able to make them any better formatted. secondly, i think it's confusing for people to know how to set it so that they only receive notifications about what they want. it's too complex. so people probably mostly either turn them right off, or ignore them. let's hope there is a better way in D7 :)

actually i wonder if it's really necessary to have notifications at all; if we have an improved (& perhaps more regular) email newsletter, & a better landing page when you first log in, then the idea of notifications for new content is perhaps redundant ... ???
